Road Closures Due to Dexter Homecoming Parade Today

Here's a look at some activities going on around Dexter on Friday for the 2012 homecoming game.

The Dexter High School Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The following roa closures will be in effect:

  • Starting at 1:30 p.m.: Main Street between Dexter-Chelsea and Baker roads
  • Starting at 1:45 p.m.: – Baker Road between Main Street and Dan Hoey roads.

The homecoming game will take place against Ypsilanti at Al Ritt Field beginning at 7 p.m. A pep rally will take place at 10 a.m. at the high school.

Aubree's Pizzeria will donate 15 percent of customers' bills to the Dexter Touchdown Club from 7-11 p.m. Customers must present a flyer to their server when ordering.

Dexter's Pub will donate 20 percent of sales on Friday night to the Dexter Touchdown Club. Just mention "Dexter football" to your server.

I just wanted to say what amazing young men our Varsity Football players are! At one point of the parade, the guys jumped off the float and gave high fives to all the elementary school kids sitting on the curb. The younger kids absolutely loved seeing their heroes up close. Thank you gentleman for showing your Dexter pride! Go Dreads!

I agree with Melissa! My youngest son, a kindergartner at Bates Elementary, came home last week very excited to tell us about the Varsity Football Player who visited his classroom and read a story to them in his uniform. Nice job, Dreads!
