Wylie Elementary School Holds 1950s Sock Hop

The Dexter elementary school celebrated the 56th day of school with a special dance on Nov. 23.

Hundreds of screaming children filled the gymnasium at Wylie Elementary School to celebrate the school's 56th day of classes in grand fashion with a 1950s sock hop.

Principal Mary Cooper said the sock hop was conceived three years ago as a fun way to promote health and fitness.

"We're trying to keep bodies healthy because healthy bodies mean healthy minds," Cooper said.
