Dexter Cross-Country Teams Compete in Spartan Invitational at MSU

Dexter boys and girls place 11th and 12th at Friday's event.

EAST LANSING — The Dexter High School cross country teams competed Friday in the annual Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State University at Forest Acres Golf Course.  

The Dexter boys finished 11th out of 32 teams, while the girls placed 12th out of 35 teams.

In the varsity boys' 5,000 meter event, Taylor Neely placed 49th, with a time of 16:26 for Dexter. Matt Greve placed 58th with a time of 16:31. Tim Bougher placed 63rd with a time of 16:35. Joe Wendorf placed 69th with a time of 16:38. Zach Dutcher placed 74th with a time of 16:42. Blake Loudermilk placed 149th with a time of 17:25.

In the junior varsity boys' 5,000 meter event, Mike Hauke placed 10th at 17:27 for Dexter. Nick Empey placed 72nd with a time of 18:20. Luke Bottomley placed 94th with a time of 18:31. Casey Hanson placed 105th at 18:38. Kavi Kulkarni placed 147th at 18:54. Ben Nichols placed 151 at 18:56. Rem Vermeulen placed 165 with 19:02. Zac Whidby placed 196 at 19:21.

In the varsity girls' 5,000 meter event Alexandra Amman placed 54th at a time of 19:35 for Dexter. Elise Dombrowski placed 80th at 20:00.  Cailin McLean placed  81st at 20:00.
