Dexter Football Coach Brian Baird Resigns for 'Personal Reasons'

Dexter High School teacher Ryan Fisher will take over the football program as interim head coach for the 2012-2013 season.

Brian Baird, the head varsity football coach for Dexter High School, resigned his position Sunday citing personal and family reasons.

Baird from Tom Barbieri, and has been a math teacher at DHS since 2002. He previously served as the team’s junior varsity head coach, varsity assistant coach and assistant offensive coordinator.

"We wish him well and know that as a teacher at Dexter High School he continues to be an asset to the school and community," Michael Bavineau, interim athletic director said in a written statement.

Moving forward, the Dexter football team will be coached by Ryan Fisher, a current DHS teacher.

"The focus of the coaches and Dexter administrators continues to be providing a quality athletic experience for students. Help us support the student-athletes on the football team and wish them success for the remainder of the season," Bavineau said.

Baird's resignation comes one month after to pursue a job offer outside of the district.
