Dexter Girls Place First in SEC Jamboree No. 2

The Dexter girls' varsity cross country team competed at Willow Metropark on Sept. 27.

Dexter's Allison McLean, the 24th fastest freshman in Michigan, led her team to another victory Sept. 27 at the Southeastern Conference Jamboree No. 2 at Willow Metropark.

McLean finished the course with a time 19:38. Senior Rylee Hanson placed fourth with a time of 20:03 followed within seconds by Robin Jackson (20:04) and Elizabeth Greve (20:06) who took fifth and sixth places. Alex Ammann (20:27), Elise Dombkowski (20:28) and Paige O’Piela (20:31) rounded out the top seven Dexter finishers.

The Dexter girls team spent the week leading up to the meet running hard practices and posted several outstanding season times at the Jamboree. Abbie Betzolt (22:25), Elise Dombkowski and Robin Jackson had season best times, while personal records (PRs) were achieved by Marissa Butler (21:23), Maddie Kurcz (23:21), Allyson Nicholson (23:36) and Charlotte Read (20:52).

Six teams competed. The varsity runners will be competing in the Portage Invitational on Oct. 6. The boys’ race will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the girls will start at 2:30 p.m.
