Dexter Boys' Soccer Team Records Loss in First Match of the 2012 Season

Milford delivered a 2-0 loss to the Dreadnaughts during both teams' opening game on Aug. 17.

A strong start by the Milford Mustangs, with two first-half goals, gave the Dexter High School boys' soccer team its first loss of the 2012-2013 season on Aug. 17.

The Dreadnaughts traveled to Milford for both teams' season opener. A slow start by the Dreadnaughts was taken advantage of when a free kick was awarded to Milford. Milford's second goal came 14 minutes later when the team's attack began on the left side of the field and was served to the far post to an onrushing Mustang player who scored from eight yards out.

The 2-0 lead was carried into the second half and was threatened numerous times by the Dreadnaughts. Milford's goalie came up with some bigs saves, as the Dreads had a couple of quality shots on goal.

Dexter returns to action on Wednesday with its home opener against Riverview. The junior varsity game is at 4 p.m. and the varsity game is at 5:30 p.m. This game is a lead-in for the Chelsea Invitational on Aug. 25 at Chelsea High School.
