volleyball players will transform the school's gymnasium into a sea of pink for the annual "Pass, Set, Cure" breast cancer fundraiser Oct. 18.

The event, which will take place during the girls' match against Chelsea High School, will benefit two families in Dexter who have members battling breast cancer, assistant coach Ashley Vella said.

T-shirts commemorating the match are available for $10. Anyone who purchases a T-shirt will be admitted free to the game Oct. 18. Shirts may be purchased at all home games or by emailing coachvellavolleyball@gmail.com.

"In the past, all the money we raise has gone to the Susan G. Komen Foundation," Vella said. "Chelsea will still donate their proceeds to the foundation, but our team decided we wanted to focus more locally this year."

In addition to the T-shirt sales, there will be a bake sale and silent auction during the game. Auction items include a University of Michigan basket with football tickets, a "self-care" basket with manicure and massage certificates, a car detailing package and a gift certificate from Stella & Dot.

"We have at least 15 items that were donated from parents and local businesses," Vella said. "It's nice to have the community support for such an important fundraiser."
