Dreadnaughts Look to Recapture Momentum Against Adrian

Dexter girls varsity basketball team forge ahead despite recent losses.

Dexter High School girls basketball coach Mike Bavineau is hoping his team can recapture its winning momentum tonight against the Adrian Maples at 7 p.m. at Adrian High School.

The Dreads were last seen scurrying to defeat the Monroe Trojans, who defeated Dexter 37-44 on Jan. 18.

"One thing that we've struggled with this year is turning over the ball," Bavineau said. "We haven't been able to properly end an opponent's offensive run, which is probably one of our biggest issues to work on."

With the season half over, Bavineau said he can't predict what to expect in the coming weeks.

"They have the potential to do some good things," he said.

Bavineau said the team has been able to spread its scoring evenly among its players this season, which helps with the Dreads consistent performance on the court.

"If you look at our statistics, we have a lot of members scoring seven or eight points a game," he said.

Turning his attention to Adrian, Bavineau said he is not taking anything for granted.

"Everyone is pretty even in our conference, so it boils down to who does the right thing at the right time," he said. "At some point someone has to execute that winning play and it's up to us to be in the position to do that."
