Can we have an update on the Dexter Huron-Dexter Trail ending problem?

I am an avid biker and am wondering again, about WHEN the trail finish line for the Dexter-Huron Metro Park to Dexter will finally be FINISHED? I am amazed and actually appalled that our leaders did not have this last piece of the puzzle in place from the beginning. If it is now down to purely a money issue, could we begin a donation fund? I would be more than happy to donate to finally be able to access this GORGEOUS trail that is just begging to be used.

I'm not sure who the appropriate person to answer and keep updating this question would be. However, if you read this, please jump in. Delays due to rain, flooding, strikes, tornados all are understandable. This delay, however...? Hearty thanks to anyone who can bring us not only up to date, but explain what is going on.
