Weekend Planner: Ice Cream Social, Vintage Baseball, and More

Here's a look at some Dexter family-friendly events to entertain the kids (and adults) this weekend.

Whether you are an indoor person, or an outdoor person, there's plenty of activities going on around Dexter this weekend to fit your budget.

Where/When: Breakfast will be served at resident Paul Cousins' home, 7648 Forest St., from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday.

Why go?: Help fund public art in the Village of Dexter while enjoying a nice homemade meal. Guests will have a choice of three entrees along with muffins, coffee cake, juice, coffee, and tea to complete the breakfast.

Pricing: A minimum donation of $10 is requested.

  • Ice Cream Social

Where/When: The ice cream social takes place in Monument Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Why go?: Enjoy an afternoon of miniature golf, games, music, and entertainment with friends and family. Build-your-own sundaes will be provided by s ice cream.

Pricing: Varies per event.


Where/When: The Dexter Union Base Ball Club will take on the Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gordon Hall.

Why go?: What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than on the fields of Gordon Hall? Step back in time to the 1860s and watch a classic game of baseball with Dexter's new team.

  • Used Book Sale

Where/When: The will hold a used book sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go?: Support the Friends of the Dexter District Library while shopping for some great discounted books and movies.

Pricing: Varies per book.

  • Chelsea Garden Walk

Where/When: The walk begins at The Garden Mill, 110 South Main St. in Chelsea. The walk takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Why go?: Eight unique gardens in Chelsea to enjoy, explore, and inspire. All proceeds benefit civic beautification, scholarships and grants by the Chelsea Area Garden Club.
