Berry said the Dexter Lions are very active in the community and support several programs. The 45-member club sponsors the  fall sports program and various scholarships for students in the community.

A major source of the club’s funding is its annual Christmas tree sale. Profits from the sale are reinvested in local projects, such as construction and maintenance of the gazebo and concrete benches at the war memorial in Monument Park .

This year, the Lions will also be at the Relay for Life on May 14. Members will sell concessions from their food wagon, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. The Lions will provide a free pancake breakfast for all relay participants May 15.
