Event: WCC 2014 Digital Media Arts Department Student Portfolio Show

More than 60 Students To Showcase Work From 3-D Animation, Graphic Design, Photography, Digital Video Programs
Students Work Will Be Critiqued And Evaluated By Industry Experts

WHAT:  A wide array of creative work from WCC students in a cross-section of disciplines within the Digital Media Art Department will be on display at the portfolio show. Student work will be represented in the areas of graphic design, photography, 3-D animation and digital video.

The Digital Media Arts department is recognized for its degree programs in Digital Film and Video, Graphic Design/ Illustration, and Photography.

The annual show is structured in segments. The students’ work is critiqued in the morning and then on display later in the afternoon for viewing by the public and prospective employers.

The schedule is as follows:

4:30 to 7 p.m. – Animation, graphic design and photography – Atrium/Morris Lawrence Building

4:30 to 7 p.m. – 3-D Animation – Room 150/Morris Lawrence Building

5:30 to 10 p.m. – Digital Video – Towsley Auditorium/Morris Lawrence Building

The portfolio show is free and open to the public. For those interested, student work will be available for purchase.

WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 4:30 to 10 p.m. in the Morris Lawrence Building/Towsley Auditorium, Washtenaw Community College, 4800 E. Huron Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48105.

WHY:  “This is the highlight of our year,” said Kristine Willimann, WCC graphic design faculty and digital media arts student portfolio show co-chair. “Our student portfolios are of the highest caliber and reflect the creativity and levels of expertise of our highly renowned faculty. Our state-of-the-art facilities include a digital production center, a professional photography studio with darkroom facilities and several MacIntosh computer labs. Additionally, we structure our programs for easy transfers to colleges such as the College For Creative Studies, the Brooks Institute For Photography and Eastern Michigan University, among others,” she added.

Willimann encourages employers looking for employees with both a creative and business perspective to attend the show. Students will be handing out samples of their portfolios along with business cards.
