Steve Herrington June 21, 2014 at 07:29 am
This joking comment of his has been blown so out of proportion that it's beyond ridiculous! Do youRead More people seriously want to loose our freedom of speech rights because that is where we are heading in this country. If he had been serious this would be a different case but he wasn't so get over it!

Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 07:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

Asking to share the road(s) with a bicyclist is a fair request. However, bicyclists need to be moreRead More concerned for the safety of the motorists. 1) I know of nobody that wants to hit a bicyclist. 2) I know of nobody that wants to be the cause of a deadly accident or any accident for that matter. 3) Everyone I know would be devastated if they caused a deadly accident or hit a bicyclist. It is not fair and likely illegal (ie impeding traffic) that bicyclists ride thinking they are the only ones on the road and that motorists MUST allow them right-of-way. I agree to give right-of-way when they or a pedestrian are crossing a road and fair/safe traveling on any back road. However, it would be nice and safer for everyone if bicyclist get off the roadway when approaching motorist(s) get stuck behind the bicyclist(s) and the motorist like myself do not want to jeopardize themselves, their passengers or any oncoming traffic or oncoming bicyclist by breaking the law and crossing a double line on a blind hill because a bicyclist does not give way to the motorists. Fairness goes both ways. In fact, let's all work together to maybe put bicycle lanes on popular/dangerous local roads ie... Mast Road, Huron River Road, Joy Road to name a few.

As a parent of two of the girls on this team, I cannot thank the entire Dexter community enough forRead More their support and enthusiasm throughout this season. These 10 girls learned so much more than playing basketball this year. The support since the loss to Gross Pointe South has been even bigger than after all of the wins. That says it all.
Barbara Read March 16, 2013 at 03:36 pm
The girls' team inspired all of us. Congratulations to the whole team and coach! What a fun season!Read More It also highlights the sense of community in our district: people stopped what they were doing to cheer for the neighborhood team. That just feels good.

7:12 am on Monday, March 18, 2013 Let's not forget the coach! Mike Bavineau has long been involvedRead More in creating a great basketball program for boys and girls starting back in the early to mid 1990's when he organized and ran summer basketball camps for our children through Community Education. The summer camp has evolved into a winter season with many of the kids continuing on in travel teams until they get to Middle School sponsored teams. All three of my children have participated, with one still participating, in this long running program. Thank you Coach Bavineau for taking initiative and having follow through, not only for your Varsity basketball team, but for all of the children in our community.
