Hundreds of dog lovers throughout Southeast Michigan participated in the annual fundraiser at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter on Saturday.
Light rainfall on Saturday did not deter hundreds of dogs and their owners from converging on Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter to help raise money for the American Cancer Society (ACS). The annual "Bark for Life" fundraiser brings pets and their owners together for a fun day of food, games and canine training and sporting demonstrations, with proceeds benefiting cancer research. "This is our third year putting on 'Bark for Life' and it's the largest turnout yet," event founder Carol Yarrington said. "The event celebrates the bond between canines and their humans fighting cancer, and allows dog-lovers from all walks of life to come together to fight this deadly disease." So often dogs help people through their darkest hours, whether it is guiding the blind, watching over the young, or supporting those who are sick with cancer. Area canines, with owners in tow, take to the trail Saturday at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter as part of the American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life event benefiting cancer research. Bark For Life adds a twist to the Relay For Life fundraiser, serving as an activity to honor the care-giving qualities of canine companions while supporting the mission of the American Cancer Society. I've been going to the Metro Parks for more than 30 years & have never seen any cleaner parks anywhere. My wife runs all the time their and has never had a problem. I think you will find city sidewalks dirtier.By the way Dave the park system is always looking for volunteers.Also the Geese hang out near the water not the sidewalks.   more ›
