Cancun Mexican Restaurant to Open in Downtown Saline

A new Mexican restaurant is opening soon on E. Michigan Avenue near N. Maple Road. It features a colorful interior and authentic Mexican faire.

Cancún Mexican Restaurant will be opening soon at 405 E. Michigan Ave. in the building that once housed Signature Grille. A specific date has not been announced, but it is expected to open within one or two weeks, according to restaurant managers. The Saline location will be the newest of about a dozen started by a group of four Mexican-born businessmen led by Ishmael Leon. Since they first opened in Kentucky nearly twenty years ago, there are now locations in Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan, including three in the greater Lansing area. Jolly Pumpkin, Ann Arbor Microbreweries Host August Brew for the River Event

Five Dexter area microbreweries are teaming up with the Huron River Watershed Council for a fundraiser to benefit the Huron River beginning Aug. 9.

  ANN ARBOR — Back by popular demand, five Dexter area microbreweries are teaming up with Huron River Watershed Council to sponsor a night dedicated to water, beer, and the people who love both. The second annual "Brew for the River" event will take place every Thursday night from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 9 to Sept. 6. "The Huron River Watershed Council is proud of the fact that the Huron River is the cleanest river in Southeast Michigan. Northern United Brewing Company Plans Expansion of Jolly Pumpkin in Dexter

The company plans to move operations to Dexter and open a distillery and tasting room.

Wine and beer connoisseurs may soon be adding Dexter to their list of brewery visits if plans for a proposed distillery for Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales is approved by the Dexter Village Council. Northern United Brewing Company, LLC., the parent company of Jolly Pumpkin, has submitted a development proposal to the Dexter Planning Commission to redevelop the former Martinrea building, located at 2319 Bishop Circle East in the industrial park in Dexter as a beer and wine distillery with a tasting room. The plant is expected to serve Jolly Pumpkin's three locations in Dexter, Ann Arbor and Traverse City, while the tasting room would be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Trustee Paul Cousins said he welcomes the new business, but expressed hesitation …
