Busch's Fresh Food Market in Dexter is hosting its annual "All About Children" Food Drive from May 6 to 15.
One in four Metro Detroit children depend on free and reduced lunch programs provided by local schools, according to Larry Weber, food donor manager at Forgotten Harvest, which distributes food to local food banks across southeast Michigan. With the school year coming to a close, low-income families face the challenge of feeding their children without the free and reduced lunches and breakfasts provided by their schools. Busch's customers can purchase food donation cards to help hungry families in Michigan.
Busch's Fresh Food Market will kick off its "Season of Sharing" holiday food drive Nov. 12, continuing through Nov. 21. During this time, customers can purchase pre-made "Ready to Go" food donation bags filled with items to be given to a family in need. Customers are asked to donate $10 for each bag. They can also drop off non-perishable food in the food drive bin located in each store. Alternately, customers can make a contribution of any amount at the Busch's checkout registers. Dollars go directly to Food Gatherers. Customers will also be able to purchase $5 gift cards for produce and $10 gift cards for meats.
