Three Dexter Elementary Students Win Inaugural Chess Tournament
Robbie Moore, Jake Middleton, and Charlie Solomon competed in the Dexter Community Education chess tournament on Dec. 1.
Submitted by Kim Covert Robbie Moore won the K-8 section of the inaugural Dexter Community Education Scholastic Chess Tournament on Dec. 1, winning all four of his games and gaining more than 100 rating points. Playing with the black pieces in the final round, Moore beat top seed Vijay Sriram, who tied for second place with Joseph Weber and Duncan Darnell. Jake Middleton won the K-3 section with a perfect score. Jared Ge came in second place in this section after taking a half-point bye in the first round and winning three straight games. Four players tied for third place (Alex Guo, Justin Wu, Daniel Huang, and Alexander Boyd).
