Dexter Community Education is kicking-off 2013 with a variety of classes open to the public beginning this month. A rookie rugby league will be offered for boys in grades 7 and 8 at Wylie Elementary School this winter, as well as field hockey for girls (grades 3-8) and lacrosse for boys (grades 5-6) and girls (grades 7-8). The new session of First Steps Playgroups is available for registration online. There are new programs in the preschool enrichment division with Alphabet Soup and Book Club, Jr. with discounts for First Steps families, as well. In addition to programs for kids, classes in weight control, gluten-free living, online safety, and Introduction to Mac computers, will be offered for adults. Other classes include "Mommy and Me" …

The Dexter Community Education Department is currently accepting enrollment for its fall classes. The fall program guide is available online at onlinedexter.com. Click on the brochure tab on the left side of the website. Soccer, flag football, and field hockey registration is currently underway, and the deadline is Sept. 20. The Dexter Community Education Office will host a summer camp for students in kindergarten through sixth grade on Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-17 at Cornerstone Elementary School. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes crafts, water fun, outdoor games, hands on activities and special guests. Camp will be staffed by certified teachers. Students will be provided a box lunch Monday through Thursday and pizza on Friday. All campers will receive a T-shirt. Students directly affected by the March 15 tornado can register starting July 16 at 9 a.m. and all other students can begin registration on July 23.
