Dexter Community Orchestra Performs Free Concerts in Ann Arbor

The orchestra will perform at Barnes and Noble and at the University of Michigan on Jan. 26 and Feb. 8.

The Dexter Community Orchestra's Chamber Concert Series will host two free concerts in the Ann Arbor area. The first performance will be held at the Barnes and Noble, 3235 Washtenaw Ave. in Ann Arbor, on Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is a chamber concert with five groups performing: flute duet, string and wind trio, wind octet, wind quintet, and a string duet. The Dexter group also has a performance scheduled at the Mendelssohn String Octet at the University of Michigan Commons on Asa Gray Drive off Huron Parkway in Ann Arbor on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. These events are free and open to the public. St. Joseph Quintet Perform Free Christmas Concert in Dexter Today

The musical group "5 from Grace" will perform at Joe & Rosie's Coffee in downtown Dexter.

The St. Joseph Catholic Church quintet, "5 From Grace," is performing a Christmas show Dec. 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Joe & Rosie's in downtown Dexter. Come and enjoy some holiday tunes and a nice hot festive beverage. Santa Clause will visit Alpha Coney Island on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gordo the Magician will perform from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Kids will enjoy a free pancake or french toast meal and a free drink. There will also be complimentary cookies and doughnuts for all customers. 'A Musical Taste of Dexter' Fundraiser Set for Sept. 23

The Dexter Community Orchestra and area businesses will spotlight the best of Dexter in a dinner fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The Dexter Community Orchestra is hosting a fundraising event bringing together 17 area restaurant and food vendors and the musicians of the orchestra in one event titled “A Musical Taste of Dexter." The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Dexter on Sept. 23, from 2-6 p.m. The 17 food vendors will all be bringing samples of menu items for guests to enjoy. While you are enjoying the wonderful food samples, you will be entertained by the chamber musicians of the Dexter Community Orchestra. In addition, there will be a demonstration from the Dancer’s Edge dancers as well as Dexter Karate Academy students. The event would not be complete without raffles and prizes. A wide variety of themed baskets will be raffled off. …

Dexter Community Orchestra Holds First Concert of 2012 on March 18

The orchestra will perform selections from the "Mother Goose Suite," and other classic compositions.

The Dexter Community Orchestra (DCO) will perform its first concert of 2012 at Dexter High School on March 18. Director Anthony Elliot will conduct the musical ensembles for the performance. The concert will feature Maurice Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite," Louis Spohr’s “Duo Concertante No.2 in b minor” and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's “Scheherazad." Paul and Linda Rosenthal will perform on the violin. The DCO was founded in 2005, and has since been dedicated to sharing the experience of live classical music through symphonic performance. The DCO has four main concerts each season, as well as a summer pops concert, and chamber music concerts. This non-profit organization encourages new members to become a part of the DCO.
