St. James Epsicopal Church Celebrates 175th Anniversary with Carrie Newcomer Concert in Dexter

The contemporary folk singer/songwriter will perform a two-hour concert at the Dexter Performing Arts Center on June 23.

The congregation of St. James Epsicopal Church will be celebrating its 175th anniversary with a special concert featuring Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Carrie Newcomer on June 23. Newcomer will be making her first southeast Michigan appearance since the release of her latest CD, "Everything is Everywhere" in 2011. The album is a collaboration between Newcomer and famed Indian musicians Amjad, Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan, with proceeds from sales benefiting the Interfaith Hunger Initiative. "We're very excited to bring Carrie to Dexter," pastor Carol Mader said. "Her music is very spiritual but not overtly religious.
