Washtenaw County Sheriff Releases Name of Bicyclist Killed in Accident in Dexter Township

Mary Burrows, 53, of Pinckney was struck by a vehicle while riding her bike on North Territorial Road in Dexter Township on Tuesday.

Mary Burrows, a 53-year-old Pinckney woman was killed on Tuesday when her bicycle was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of North Territorial and Dexter-Pinckney roads in Dexter Township. According to Derrick Jackson, community engagement director, Burrows was struck by a 2002 Mercury Sable driven by a male resident from Chelsea traveling westbound on North Territorial Road around 6:05 p.m. "By all accounts, the victim was an experienced bicyclist, wore a helmet and was following all the proper safety precautions," Jackson said. At some point Burrows stopped to rest in the ditch on the northwest corner of the intersection, re-entered the roadway on North Territorial Road against traffic in order to head southbound on Dexter-Pinckney …

Teenage Passenger Killed in Rollover Accident Near Chelsea

Three additional passengers were injured in the accident on I-94 in Washtenaw County on Tuesday night.

A 17-year-old from Jackson was killed following a rollover crash on I-94 near Chelsea on Tuesday. According to Ann Arbor.com, the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. after the vehicle's driver steered the car onto the shoulder of the freeway while trying to pass other vehicles. The Jackson teen and the driver, a 23-year-old woman from Ypsilanti, were ejected from the vehicle, the news reported. A 28-year-old Ypsilanti man and an infant, who were passengers in the vehicle also were injured in the crash. According to the Michigan State Police, the teen and adults were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Witnesses told police the vehicle was traveling east at a high rate of speed and drifted onto the left shoulder of the freeway …
