Dexter UMC Italian Dinner and Silent Auction Supports Habitat for Humanity

Proceeds from the Feb. 23 dinner will help Habitat renovate two houses in Washtenaw County.

Dexter United Methodist Church will host its annual Italian dinner and silent auction on Feb. 23. The fundraiser will benefit Habitat for Humanity, and takes place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the church, 7643 W. Huron River Drive. The silent auction is open from 3 to 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and are $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children 5-12. Children under 4 eat for free. The annual event has raised more than $85,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley since it started in the late 1990s. Through this fundraiser and other donations, Dexter church members and friends have provided affordable homeownership opportunities for more than a dozen Washtenaw County families. Suspect Hides in Habitat for Humanity Store, Steals Safe Box with Cash After Hours

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

SCIO TWP. — The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary reported at the Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley store in Scio Township. According to a press release from the sheriff, deputies responded to the store at 170 Aprill Drive on Oct. 21. Investigators believe that the suspect hid in the store's warehouse Sunday until it closed. Once employees were gone, the suspect broke into the main office and stole a safe box that contained cash from the weekend sales. The theft was reported on Monday. Dexter United Methodist Church Hosts Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser

Proceeds from the Italian buffet-style dinner will benefit local residents in Washtenaw County.

Dexter United Methodist Church will host its annual Italian dinner and silent auction to benefit Habitat for Humanity on Feb. 25. The silent auction will take place from 3-7 p.m., and a buffet dinner with a special children’s auction will take place from 4:30-7 p.m. Dinner tickets are  available at the door and cost $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for children 5-12, and free for children 4 and under. The event has raised more than $78,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley. Through the fundraiser and other donations, DUMC members have provided affordable homeownership opportunities for more than a dozen families in Washtenaw County.
