Live Nativity Will Retell Christmas Story During Chelsea's Hometown Holiday Festival

Chelsea area actors will portray the manger scene in Bethlehem outside Chelsea First United Methodist Church on Friday.

The spirit of the Christmas holiday will come alive in downtown Chelsea on Friday with a live nativity display at Chelsea First United Methodist Church. The nativity will take place on Park Street on the south side of First United Methodist Church adjacent to the Chelsea District Library parking lot. There will be live animals and hay bales for children to sit on, as a narrator reads the story of the birth of Christ and a choir sings traditional Christmas carols. A cast of local actors will portray the Holy Family, but no movement will take place. "We try to make it look as authentic as possible," event organizer Deanna Robbins said. "Bag of Bears" Fundraiser Benefits Faith in Action

The Chelsea Teddy Bear Company is raffling off a bag of toys and stuffed animals to benefit the Faith in Action food pantry.

The Chelsea Teddy Bear Company is giving one lucky person a chance to walk away with more than $900 worth of Teddy bears and toys as part of a holiday fundraiser benefiting Faith in Action. The company is selling $1 tickets for its "Bag O' Bears" now through Dec. 1. The large duffel bag is stuffed full of items from the company's store. "You can enter as often as you want," employee Emily Johnson said.  Employees have set a goal of 2,000 entries, which translates into $2,000 that will benefit families in the community who look to Faith in Action for help.
