Live Reindeer Entertains Youth at Library

Community outreach programs target kids, teens.

Children of all ages got a rare chance to get up close and personal with a reindeer during the Dexter District Library's holiday story time and craft event on Dec. 20. More than 100 families filled the library's parking lot to catch a glimpse and take photos of the reindeer brought to Dexter by Carousel Acres in South Lyon. Visitors also participated in an hour-long Christmas sing-a-long and ornament making workshop hosted by librarian Linda Westphal. "We try to do a fun drop-in storytime event at least once a month," Cathy Jurich, head of youth services said.
