St. James Episcopal Church Plans Mardi Gras Celebration in Dexter
University of Michigan faculty members Stephen Rush and Andrew Bishop will perform traditional New Orleans jazz music on Feb. 10.
The sounds of New Orleans jazz will echo off the walls at St. James Episcopal Church on Feb. 10 during the church's Mardi Gras celebration. The celebration kicks-off at 4 p.m. with a concert featuring A2BQ from the University of Michigan School of Music and Dance Jazz faculty. Members are Stephen Rush, piano; Andrew Bishop, saxophone, clarinet; and Jeremy Edwards, drums. "The program will include New Orleans-tinged jazz, modern and old, with a touch of hymns Mardi Gras style," the church wrote in a press release. "Running the gamut from Louis Armstrong to Ornette Coleman, this group makes art music as entertaining as it is enlightening."
