Local Talent Takes Center Stage for Encore's 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'

DEXTER — The music of Andrew Lloyd Webber is back at The Encore Musical Theatre for the theater's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Based on the “coat of many colors” story of Joseph from the Bible’s Book of Genesis, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was first presented as a 15-minute pop cantata in London in 1968, but was soon recorded as a full-length concept album in 1969. It was not presented onstage until 1970, however, and opened on Broadway in 1982. Like other Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals, Joseph is a sung-through show (all music).
