Dexter Village Receives Transportation Economic Development Fund Grant

The $200,000 grant will be used to reconstruct Central Street from Second to Third Street in the village beginning in 2014.

The Michigan Department of Transportation has allocated $200,000 to the Village of Dexter to assist with the village's rehabilitation of Central Street. According to a press release from MDOT, the village was one of nine municipalites to receive "Category F" funding in order to rehabilitate Central Street from Second Street to Third Street. Category F funding is intended to expand or preserve all-season roads on commercial routes in the urban areas of rural counties. MDOT's decision to award funding to Dexter was based on the amount of commercial traffic on Central Street, connections to other roads, Category D routes (state trunklines), and the project's ability to improve safety and intermodal connectivity in the village.
