On Aug. 12, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed lost control near North Territorial and Dexter Townhall roads in Dexter Township. Deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival an investigation revealed that the driver and a lone occupant may have been intoxicated. A blood sample was taken from the driver and will be sent to the Michigan State Police crime lab for analysis. Animal complaint On Aug 13, deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office received a call that a found dog was tied to the bench at the police substation in Dexter Village. Christopher James Boyer of Dexter was killed on Wednesday in a rollover accident.
A 24-year-old Dexter resident was killed in a one-vehicle accident in Dexter Township on Wednesday. According to a press release from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, Christopher James Boyer, 24, died when the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu he was riding in lost control while traveling southbound on North Lima Center Road in Dexter Township and rolled over coming to rest in the roadway. Derrick Jackson, director of community engagement for the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, said officers were dispatched to the scene around 8:34 p.m. along with Huron Valley Ambulance and the Dexter Area Fire Department. A 53-year-old woman was killed while riding her bike in Dexter Township on Tuesday.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office has confirmed a 53-year-old bicyclist was killed in an accident near the intersection of North Territorial and Dexter-Pinckney roads in Dexter Township on Tuesday. According to Derrick Jackson, community engagement director, a female cyclist was struck by a 2002 Mercury Sable driven by a male resident from Chelsea traveling westbound on North Territorial Road around 6:05 p.m. "By all accounts, the woman was an experienced bicyclist, wore a helmet and was following all the proper safety precautions," Jackson said.
