Janes' Place at the Dexter Farmers Market

Before we take a look at Janes' Place.....The most gorgeous and healthy PRODUCE is coming into the Dexter Farmers Market this month. YES! tomatoes and YES! sweet corn and melons and green beans  greens, squash - too much to list here but next week this blog will highlight the Dexter Producers of Produce.

This week the spotlight is on Janes' Place located in the center of the Dexter Farmers Market. At this bright blue booth, Jane Kelly sells Kelly Farms Pure Maple Syrup and Jane Fink sells her fantastic granola.  The two women have been friends for years.  Jane and John Kelly tap maples on Jane and Karl Fink's property. Jane Fink uses Kelly Farms maple syrup to sweeten her granola.

The Kellys also tap maples on the Dexter property of Ken and Marianna Staples and on their own property. The maple sap is processed over wood fueled evaporators on the Kelly Farm in Dexter. Their business started as a hobby 10 years ago. Now John and Jane tap over 400 trees and sell at 3 farm markets each week. Jane's syrup is rich, pure and beautiful and makes a lot more than just pancakes taste terrific.

Jane Fink's granola, known as "Jane's Grains", is a recipe that she has been tweaking since 1976. She claims it is the best granola you can buy and is closed mouthed about her secret ingredients, except for Kelly Farms syrup.  Jane Fink says her granola improved from very good to dynamite with the addition of the other Jane's syrup. Jane offers granola with or without coconut, pints and quarts. She also offers a limited number of Gluten Free pints in which she has used oats processed in a gluten free plant.

Jane and Jane want people to know that maple syrup is not just for pancakes and granola is not just for dumping in a bowl of milk.  Every week they offer a different mind expanding sample of ways their products can be used.  One week you might find maple syrup cookies and energy granola bars.  The next week - maple syrup granola quick bread or Better than Cake Cornbread with Maple Bacon Bourbon Jam.  Janes' Place also has for the taking weekly recipes that feature maple syrup.

And in addition to all this the Janes are fun and interesting.
