Dexter's Pub Receives Top Marks For Burgers
Ann Arbor.com poll ranked the local pub fifth in county among grilled hamburger joints.
is a great place to buy a burger. In fact, it is one of the five best places to get a burger in Washtenaw County, according to a recent "best of" poll of Ann Arbor.com readers.
"I'll take fifth place any day," said Peter Theocharakis, owner of Dexter's Pub, 8114 Main St. "We'd really like to be first, but that's OK."
The poll was conducted from March 6-12. Readers submitted their votes to the online news site, choosing Ypsilanti's Sidetrack as the first-place winner. About 20 restaurants competed in the contest, from Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti to Saline and Dexter.

During the week, Theocharakis advertised his win to customers with a No. 5 label next to the Easy Street burger on the pub's special lunch menu.
Theocharakis said that his favorite hamburger is the Easy Street, which is a basic burger. Like all the burgers at the pub, it is made from all-natural, corn-fed beef that is free of antibiotics, steroids and hormones.

"We order (the meat) today and grind it up tomorrow," he said, adding that each of the burgers weighs a half-pound before cooking and is served on a brioche bun.
"It's a beautiful bun with no seeds," Theocharakis said. "All burgers are served with chips or fries."
Other burgers at the pub include the Frisco burger, patty melt, cheddar melt, Maui, turkey burger and the garden burger for vegetarians. The restaurant also serves appetizers, salads, pizzas, steaks, ribs, fish and other sandwiches, he said.
"I hope everyone was following the contest and knows we are here. We have a good burger, and we welcome everyone," Theocharakis said.
Pub manager and bartender Kristin Davis, who has been with the restaurant for 14 years, said she voted for Dexter's Pub to win the contest.
"I just hope we win the next one," she said.
She said her favorite burger on the menu is the Frisco burger.
"They have a very good Frisco," she said, adding that the burger is flavored with garlic and served on toasted bread.
